S tudying in Halisahar
            Halisahar was long known for the toles, small primary schools run by the Vaishnav pundits in the 17th and 18th centuries. In the last of 19th century the first school was established by Col KP Gupta which was the first to introduce the western style of education in Halisahar. In 1915 the first Girls’ School was setup called Bazarpara Valika Vidhyalaya. Later it was turned to a co-educational school.

            At present Halisahar has more than 50 primary schools and around 10 secondary schools. Apart from this, the ULB also provides education under Sarba Shikha Abhijan (SSA) under which 7 number of Shishu Shikha Karmashuchi (SSK) Centres have been set-up for providing non-formal education to dropouts and children who cannot attend regular hours of schools.

            The first library came up in the form of Ramprasad Library in the year 1914 thanks to the effort of the famous patriot Bipin Bihari Ganguly. At present the library boast of a collection of more than 2000 books.
