Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is a flagship programme of Government of India mandatory to provide free and compulsory education to the children of 6 to 14 years age group as it is a fundamental right. This is a central-state joint programme. The programme was launched in this District of North 24 Parganas in the year 2001-2002 under the jurisdiction of District Project Office, SSA.

            There are seven numbers of Sishu Shiksha Kendra or Child Education Centres set up at Halisahar. Fourteen numbers of Shiksha Sahayak or Education Facilitators under one Shiksha Paridarshak or Supervisor (Mrs. Dolon Champa Dutta Gupta, Mob. No.+919163627957) are attached with the mission here.
