IMP EXCAVATIONS
An idol of Ganesha with four hands made of stone was found during digging in the Dangapara area. Historian Binoy Ghosh determined the idol was made somewhere between 12th and 13th century AD. A statue felt like Buddha sculpted on a broken piece of a stone was found in the Baruipara Somdighi area. The age of this piece of art could not be determined precisely.One Ram-Sita stone idol was found at the Ram-Sita lane of Halisahar during digging of a pond. But later ironically it was lost. A second sculpture of Ram-Sita on a piece of black stone was again found here in the Thakupara locality.
